Is it possible to test how often a service has restarted?

Running Hostmonitor 11.99 on a Windows 2012R2 server. We have a somewhat flaky legacy application, that sometimes restarts. When it does, there is an entry in the NT Event log that "service <x> has restarted" - so that we can test for. However, I have been asked, can we set up a test in Ho...

Here's what my output looks like

Here's why my screen looks like - shown in the same order as my tests, broken down by site and sections, and then all the tests in one folder shown across the page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155651066797581&set=a.87520472580&type=3&theater the first test is always a ping ...

System status shown on large TV/Monitor

Hi everyone I work in a an SME in a small team, and look after the network and Infrastructure - this is the 2nd time I've implemented Hostmonitor in a new company, after encountering it back in 2005ish - and I'm sure I'm a very shallow user compared to a lot! As a quick heads up for the team, and fo...

Yes- RMA started as service running on Windows Server 2003 Yes - RMA system is not domain system. Yes, they are all on the same host as the RMA for reference - Target systems are not in domain. Yes, except for Ping - RMA cannot check remote systems, Windows returns "Error: THE RPC server is una...

Morning! Ok, I changed the timeout values on the Hostmon side, rather than the client machine. Also, went into Profiles / Connection manager, and set up for Agent 192.168.100.10, using the host/resource name, with the local service account we have assigned for Hostmon, in the admin group, and set th...

I've tried disabling our AV (Eset NOD32 AV4), disabled the service, changed the timeout to 45 seconds, then restarted the service. Checking on Hostmon, both the ping and the disk space check were showing RMA error (unsurprising as I had stopped / restarted the service.) Clicking refresh, the Ping co...

Hi Alex, thanks for the advice I went and changed the RMA timeout to 30 seconds and restarted the service. I've also run Perfmon on the server - it's hitting 40% CPU, and monitoring the disk I can see it's busy - but not thrashing. Back on my server, if I do a refresh the status changes to "che...

RMA: Cannot read data error [SOLVED]

Configuration: Hostmonitor running at HQ site, on Windows 2012R2 dedicated server, version 11.74, from IP 192.168.13.242 Nearly all of our tests run from Hostmonitor directly - we only have two sets that run via RMA. Site #2 uses the class A network 10.0.0.0/16 Site #3 uses 192.168.8.0/24, 192.168.1...

Multiple master tests? [Solved]

Hi all We have a remote site, connected via a layer 3 link with a bunch of servers in it. Each servers' tests use the server ping test as a master, each of those ping tests use the core switch as a master. So far so good. As we're now expanding this remote site use, they've installed a 2nd, alternat...

Thanks very much Alex I renamed some of my tests to add in a overall system name, and then made a view that searched for that system name. I also then made a few "consolidated tests" that have the sub parts as their masters, and set synchronised counters on them, so they show as down if an...

Thanks very much for the pointers - the DCOM settings had been messed up by a user. Reset, and now it looks to be scanning fine.

All working again now!

Update - connection manager used, problem remains

I've set up the connection manager, using the "*" special account to use as a default connection. I did a flushdns, and then a displaydns to remove old entries. I tried to ping the specific host that is throwing up errors - the ping resolves the hostname to an IP and is successful. I can c...
