RCC connection error. :)
RCC connection error. :)
Hi.
I installed HostMonitor 6.40 beta on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 1. And i installed RCC on Windows XP Pro SP2 (from hm640 archive). In HostMonitor in menu Options->RCC all fields are checked. RCC show "Connecting... Filed. Connection error" while trying to connect to HostMonitor. I tryed to use port scanner (IP-Tools) for checking 1054 TCP port, and it show that no open ports found.
Windows firewall is turned off where HostMonitor is installed. No other firewalls are installed. Network without any firewalls too.

Port 1054 manually added by me, but IP-Tools sad that it's not open. In HostMonitor RCI is turned on adn port 1054 is used. I tryed to reinstall HostMonitor using Upgrade selection but result is the same. I'll try to do something else.

As I understand, you started IP-Tools on XP box to check Win 2003 server ports? Could you try to start "netstat -an" from command line on the server, where HostMonitor is installed. Do you see port 1054 in the output?
So, are you sure there are no firewalls on Windows 2003 and Win XP (especially built-in firewall on Win XP)?
Regards,
Max

I found the problem. Other utility (IPCheck) in the same computer where HostMonitor is installed established connection with itself using port 1054. It's strange... Restarting of service this utility solve the problem. IPCheck - sux. I hope my boss will make a decision to use only HostMonitor and deinstall IPCheck.
I must had that this problem not in the HostMonitor.
Thanks a lot!
