Which List

Post by Marcv »

How about adding the following tools:

1) Comms checker
To verify connectivity using TCP or UDP between hosts.
Tool is launced on the 2 hosts, 1 is configured to use specified local TCP/UDP port and remote IP to send (custom data - text), the other is configred to listen on local specified TCP/UDP port and dispaly any incoming data.
Useful for firifying WAN connection and firewall settings.

2) SNMP Trap Sender
Send custom SNMP trap to Management Agent.
You alredy have the Trap Watcher, but no tool to send test SNMP Trap from a remote host.

Can be configured to send just a text message, or use a MIB and select OID and provide information in 'value' field.

Hope you can do this soon :D

H'm, I think normally you check connection to some specific service that already started on remote system, right? Then you may use Telnet utility or Port Scanner to check connection.

>2) SNMP Trap Sender

Do you need to send Traps manually or automatically as reaction on some event?
In 2nd case you may use HostMonitor and SNMP Trap action, it can send specific trap message when some event detected.
