Hi Alex,
My company has a client in Japan. So, we set their web servers to reflect the current time in Japan. How will that affect event log monitoring?
Thanks,

It can be a problem. As I understand HM on system with US time (system A) monitors Event Log on system with Japanese time (system B)?
Lets examine Situation:
- now 2:00am on system A;
- last test was performed at 1:50am;
- HostMonitor sends request to system B to get all events those ocurred after 1:50am.
Problem is current time on system B 8:00PM, system will return list of events those ocurred long time ago. So, HostMonitor will display old event log records again and again
Probably HM need some option, like "Difference in time". It needs this options for each "Event Log" test (you can test different systems). H'm, there no space in Test Propertis dialog for this option. I need good idea...
Regards

Thanks for the reply Alex,
How about an option that let's you select the "Time Zone of remote system" and then have hostmonitor adjust the time internally.
Would that be possible? Thanks for your consideration.

I agree, telling it to find out the TZ from the client would be good. |
