Hostmonitor not shutting down/letting Windows reboot.

Post by LordJezo »

Windows 2003 updated to whatever the newest version is.

Hostmonitor 5.34. Running as a service.

When we go to reboot the system Hostmonitor is not shutting down. The system acts like it is going to reboot, the Hostmonitor icon goes away...

and then it comes right back and Windows acts like nothing has happened.

We need to manually shut down the Hostmonitor service in the Windows task manager in order to get the system to reboot.

In the system log we are seeing the following:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( hostmon.exe ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Unable to write to hostmon.INI.

That error shows up whenever we are trying to reboot the system.

H'm.. we cannot reproduce this problem on our Windows 2003 systems. I just installed latest Microsoft updates, still works fine.
If you stop service manually, Windows does not show any error in NT Event Log? Strange...

PS Version 5.66 will be available tonight
