Connection Error

Post by MortenS »

Hi, trying to establish Passive RMA on Unix. Use the latest RMA-version 1.28 and HM 8.32 Enterprise. Checked port, password, firewall etc etc. Can run telnet from HM-server to client on port 1055.
Anyway, still got "Connection Error"

BTW: We're running Passive RMA on other Unix's in the same network without any trouble.

What exactly Unix do you use? What exactly RMA do you use (there are many modules compiled for different versions of the UNIX)?
What exactly test method returns "Connection error"?

The connection error appears when trying to connect to the RMA from HostMonitir-server.
Below some technical info from our developer:

# uname -a
Linux GSNOAPP01 2.6.31-14-server #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 15:07:34 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Ubuntu 9.10 Server

RMA:
RMA 1.28 for Linux (x86-64)

# hostmonitor/rma -d -v hostmonitor/rma.ini
-------------------------------------------------------------
Application: RMA (Remote Monitoring Agent for HostMonitor)

I have not tested the one for Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (x86-64) as this version seems to work.

In verbose mode I get the following when I telnet into the server on the port configured:

[01/28/2010 12:11:34] 10.58.10.18 TCP connection accepted
[01/28/2010 12:11:40] rma Session closed, wait for next ..

When we try to connect with hostmonitor NOTHING happens in the logfile.

Well, if both logs (Successful audit log and Failure audit log, usually its the same file) show nothing when HostMonitor is trying to connect, this means RMA does not receive any TCP request from HostMonitor.
If target address and port specified correctly, then it must be some problem related to 3rd party software. Please check your antivirus or personal firewall settings.
