i cant find the problem. i ping a server every minute. when it fails, send me an email. when it fails twice, send me an sms. the actual problem is, i get mail and sms twice. and this for both status 'no answer' and alive. what did i do wrong?

i think, i found the misstake. i did not reset the test after i set up the schedule.

Maybe i misunderstand the philosophy. I test a unit from 6 am to 6 pm. I’ve set this up with the schedule option. Several things are being done at night. Once the unit will be rebooted. i can test onvce a month and once a week on a predefined time. can i performa test every day at 7 am?

seems that you have solved the problem. the admin that i used is an domain account that seems not to have sufficient rights to start the servive. now i took the administrator of the loacal server i wanted to start the service on. sorry to bother for such a long time.

well then, why does it work when starting the applikation? And why does syslog tells me something differnet?
"The specified service does not exist as an installed service"
But the service really exist. Otherwise the application wouldn't be able to start it.

correct, but as i wrote, the service name is 'HostMonService'. Advanced Host Monitor is only the display name of the service under computer management. yes i can check the process. but can i start it when it fails?
