found everything as described. inserted those mentioned variables. Result: httpcode does show "0" and http header is not filled. Strange. Do I omit the proxy in the test (i.e. =none) everything is working, both variables have reasonable content. Using the defined proxy in the internet expl...

Thanks for the answer. "Set Bad Status when ..." ist unchecked and "Timeout" is set to a reasonable high value. Using the same test with "Proxy" set to "none" does work. I'm not sure where to put in and test the advised macrovariables in order to check header ...
