Remote site time doesn't correct in "Bad tests" pa

Post by Dubolomov »

Hi.
First of all thank you for the regional options feature. I use it for more than 10 branches our company. But it not correct works at Good, Bad, Warning or Unknown pages from web-interface.

Could you please explain the problem?
When I open "folder proprties" page and click on "good tests" list, I see correct time. Web Service uses time zone specified for the folder.

Regards
Alex

Yes. I set time zones for a few folders. When i get access to web-interface i see correct time zone for this folder. But when i open "Bad tests" page i see list of bad tests with theirs folders and with HM's server's time zone (not seted time zone for the folder).
HM 7.46.

You open "Bad test" list for entire test list? Not for specific folder with specific time zone? Then Web Service works correctly
Quote from the manual
Note #1: By default descendant sub-folders inherit regional options from parent folder however you may set different time zone for each subfolder. Nevertheless HostMonitor/RCC applies the same time zone for all visible items using settings of the selected (parent / current) folder for entire list (view / report). "All visible items" may have the following meanings:
- all test items displayed when some Folder is selected
- all test items displayed by some View
- all test items included into report file
In other words: all test items included into view/report are displayed with the same time zone settings; HostMonitor uses time zone of the selected (parent/current) folder for entire view/report.
For example you create "USA" folder with "New-York" and "Seattle" subfolders (USA -> NewYork; USA -> Seattle) and set GMT -5 for USA and New-York, GMT -8 for Seattle. Then if you generate report for USA including subfolders (New-York and Seattle!), all test items within this report will use GMT -5 time zone. If you generate report for "Seattle" subfolder, test items within this report will use GMT -8 time offset.

So i see list of bad tests like this:

"Bad" tests
Test name | Reply | Comment | Status changed at
Folder: Folder1\Folder2\Folder3\ Time zone: GMT +03:00
Server1 | 99 % | (Server1) | 29.07.2008 | 12:21:51
Folder: Folder1\Folder2\Folder4\ Time zone: GMT +03:00
Server2 | 99 % | (Server2) | 29.07.2008 | 13:15:48
Folder: Folder1\Folder2\Folder5\ Time zone: GMT +03:00
Server3 | 99 % | (Server3) | 29.07.2008 | 15:51:17

But realy i set other time zone for Folder4 (GMT +05:00) and Folder5 (GMT +07:00).
Is it correct?

Yes, everything is correct. Software does not use different time zones for single "visible list".

Suggestion: Either pick up system time zone settings or have a User account property to include a time zone/gmt offset. That way regional operators/managers will see times adjusted to their current, personal, time zone settings, both in the web interface and associated reports. You might want to include the option of displaying the TZ/GMT used as a variable in your report header/footer as well.
