Performance counters

Post by ibjohn »

I am trying to monitor asp.net performance counters through host monitor and can not get the performance counter to show ie \\machinename\asp.net . I can get the counters if I launch Microsoft's performance utility so I know that the performance counters are there. I am running host monitor 8.06. Has anyone run into this?

Could you please provide more information?
- What exactly error do you see in Reply field of the test?
- Status of the test?
- Do you setup test to be performed directly by HostMonitor or you are using RMA?
- HostMonitor/RMA started as service or application?
- What account do you use to run software?
Has anyone run into this?
Sure. There are around 100 themes about similar problem. You may use Search function to search for "Performance Counter"

Performance counters

I did try to use the search feature and nothing came up usefull, that is why I posted.

1. I can't even set a test up since the performance counter is not listed. It IS listed inside microsoft's performance utility
2. manually type in the test I get the specified object is not found on the system.
3. I tried both.
4. Both ways tried, as a service and application
5. Administrator

H'm
What about other counters? Can you request something like \\HostName\Memory\Available Bytes ?
As I understand HostMonitor is able to show "Select counter to monitor" dialog without errors but some counters are missed?

Also, where is installed RMA that was used for test? on target system "machinename"? then you may try to setup counter using local IP, e.g. \\127.0.0.1\ASP.NET\Application Restarts

Layout

Machine1 running host monitor
Machine2 running active rma

If I remove \\machinename and use \\127.0.0.1 it works. I'll just use it this way.
