Change Service start order

Post by Robert_in_MTL »

Hi,
I have a weird case of RMA service loading after another service which already use port 1055.

Don't tell me to use another port.. I know that

When we do an update on windows and reboot, I have to stop the first service and restart RMA, alowing it to grab port 1055, then restart the other, which uses then another :o .

Anyhow, could you suggest a tool (freeware if possible) to choose the service startup order?
I do not want to use the windows service dependencies trick, just a real simple startup order tool.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Have a nice day,
Thank you.

Well, I think the best option is to change port used for the agent.
You don't like this option for some reason

If you do not like this option, then I think you should setup dependancy for the service http://support.microsoft.com/kb/193888

If you do not like 2nd option either and you just want to change startup order, I think you will need to modify registry as well. However I think this will not help, or better say this may help but it will not work every time. I think so because without "dependancy" option Windows will initiate 1st service then start another one right away while 1st service is initializing, open ports and so on... Windows it multitasking system, right?

Alex
