Alerts don't work when hostmonitor is runned in service mode

Post by sgunaydin »

Hi,

There is a problem with alert actions when we run Host Monitor in service mode. When we run it in application mode, we get the alerts.

How can we solve this problem?

Thanks for helps.

Lets start from begining
- are you sure service is running and monitoring is started?
- what Windows do you use? Service Pack?
- have you specified admin account on Service page in the Options dialog?
- what version of HostMonitor do you use?
- what exactly actions do you use?

If you are running HostMonitor on local system (Windows NT - Windows 2003), you should see HostMonitor icon in system tray. Click on the icon to open HostMonitor GUI and check what is going on. E.g. may be HostMonitor cannot perform tests because you have specified wrong admin password on Service page in the Options dialog. May be monitoring is stopped or paused, may be actions disabled, may be ... there are 20 various "may be". You should check settings and status.

If you are running HostMonitor on Windows Vista, 2008 or Windows 7, you should use Remote Control Console (RCC) to connect to HostMonitor and check its status.

If you confirm that service is running, monitoring is started and actions are enabled, then you may check parameters of the action. If you are sure action should be executed, lets check system log or Quick Log for actions. When HostMonitor cannot execute some action, it records information about the problem into the log.
