Active RMA Management from multiple hosts

Post by meppyman »

I have multiple Internet connections for load balance and failover, this means that I may need to manage the remote RMAs from different hosts/IPs. Is it possible to specify multiple Hosts or IPs in the Active RMA settings?

Currently I have to remote into each server and manually change the host, or wait for a DNS failover to propagate.

Sorry, this is impossible for Active RMA. It must connect to some specific system.

I understand that from the monitoring aspect, but perhaps form a management/administration it could allow more than one host? That way I can remotely change the host it is connecting to for monitoring if required.

Perhaps I also need to request a feature for active rma trying a different host if the main host is down? Although I can probably manage it via DNS failover at the router instead.

H'm, I don't like this idea
In such case RMA will waste time and resources constantly trying to connect to systems that is not in use...
Can't you use Passive RMA?

Not sure we will do this...

OK I was thinking about it listening but of course being active it is not listening to incoming ports, my bad.

Could use Passive but then I am back to modifying router/firewall rules at each client site.

I will just use DNS failover, thanks for the quick responses!

Can I run two active RMAs on the one server, one as a backup that has the alternative host? I not there is a backup or load balance option in the RMA manager.

Yes, you may start 2 copies of the agent. Just place them into different folders and use different settings.
