Web Service: Transmission error

Post by Puch-Maxi »

Hi,

I'm trying to get Advanced Host Monitor's Web Services working
I followed: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/webservice/index.htm

But I'm still getting the same error:
Transmission error (Web Service <-> HostMonitor): "Connection error. There is an invalid argument specified."

It should work out-of-the-box right?

Looks like winsock problem, probably caused by some 3rd party software like antivirus monitor, personal firewall or content monitoring software.
Solution: try execute "netsh winsock reset" and reboot the system

What Windows do you use?

Thanks for your quick reply, I'm currently testing Host monitor on my Windows XP sp3 client. For use on a Windows Server 2008 Enterprise.

I'll check if it's a winsock problem.

XP supports "netsh winsock reset" command so it should help.

Hi Alex,

You're completely right, "netsh winsock reset" fixed the issue.
Does this "problem" occur often, if so maybe it's a good idea to add the solution to the FAQ?

Merry xmas and happy new year.
Kind regards from the Netherlands

I think most customers never see such error. However yes, we can add this information into FAQ...

Merry Christmas :)
