Test problems for CPU and perf counters

Post by Thore »

Hi everybody

Ofter I have problems which CPU and perf counters test. Here the errors
For CPU test: Cannot connect to remote registry. Code #5
Remote registry service is running
For perf counter Free Memory: Error Unable to access the desired machine or service: Check the persmissions and authentication of the log service or the interactive user session against those on the machine or service being monitored.
Don't understand this.
Funny thing for both test is that I have similar machines where these test are working fine. Most of the settings are done via GPO so the shoule be the same.
Thanks for any feedback

Windows error code #5 = Access is denied.
If test is performed by HostMonitor and HostMonitor is started as service, please make sure you have specified account with admin rights on Service page in the Options dialog (HostMonitor Options dialog). I think there is correct account specified, otherwise HostMonitor would not be able to chck other system as well.
If test is performed by RMA (Remote Monitoring Agent) and agent is started as service, check account specified for the service using Windows Services applet.
Also, make sure you have specified correct username/password for target server using Connection Manager or "Connect as" test property.

What Windows do you use on local and remote systems? Service Pack?
Do you have installed some antivirus monitors, personal firewall, content monitoring software? Non stanard winsock components?

Hi Alex

Thanks for replay
Yes the service account has admin rights on all systems in our environment and all test are performed by HostMon. We don't use any RMA configuration till now.
As OS we use W2K3R2 SP2, as AntiVirtus TrenMicro 10.0, no personal firewalls and content monitoring tools are used. Most of the systems are running on VMware ESX and are deployed from the same template.
So thanks for any more feedback/comments

Have you specified correct username/password for target servers using Connection Manager or "Connect as" test property?

Could you try to disable antivirus?
