I have 2 hm servers between 2 locations. I would like to eliminate one server and import/append the test list into one hm server, in essence consolidating 2 into 1.
Is this possible and if so how?
Server1: HM v7.18
Server2: HM v7.78
I would like to maintain Server1 if possible.
Consolidate Tests Into One Host Monitor Server
HostMonitor offers several options
1) You may use menu "File" -> "Append from HML file...". HostMonitor appends items from specified HML file to the current list
2) You may export text settings into text file and them import test settings on another system
Use menu "File" -> "Export to Text file..." then "File" -> "Import from Text file..."
3) You may use HML Manager, that provides easy way to manage several HML files: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/hml- ... /index.htm
Note #1: If you have different action profiles or different schedules on these systems (you do have different lists because you are using different versions of HostMonitor) then you may need to reassign action profiles and schedules to tests that were imported from 2nd system.
I would recommend to create all neсessary profiles on Server1 then use option #2 (export test settings into text file then export from text file)
Note #2: Why do you want to move settings from newer HostMonitor to older?? Newer HostMonitor offers some options that are not supported by old HostMonitor. You may loose some settings/options. and again: the only option to move settings in such case - option #2.
If you have 2 licenses: 1 for old HostMonitot and another one for very old HostMonitor, you may import test settings from HostMonitor 7.18 to 7.78.
If you want to keep HostMonitor on Server1, you may do the following
1) create necessary alert and schedule profiles on server1
2) export test settings on Server2
3) stop HostMonitor on server2
4) update HostMonitor on server1 to version 7.78 (I assume you have license for this version?), use 2nd license to register this updated HostMonitor. HostMonitor on server2 should be stopped as it uses the same license now
5) import test settings on server1
6) make sure that all settings imported correctly, uninstall HostMonitor on server2 (also you may make backup copies of all configuration files before this operation - just store all *.HML, *.LST and *.INI files)
