Performance counters - average value

Post by oryagel »

Hi,

I want to test counter which show SQL Transactions/Sec.
I found the correct counter.

The thing is that I want to be alerted when the value stay high for long period, or in other words, I want to retrieve the average value for that counter.
Perfmon displays the average value, how can I get it in host monitor?

I need this feature because spikes in this value are common, but I want to be alerted when the average is higher than X.

Thanks

Option #1: when you setup alert, you may tell HostMonitor to start action after 2nd, 3rd or any other consecutive "bad" test result. E.g. start action when 5 consecutive bad results occur.

Option #2: you may setup "advanced mode" action and check %AverageReply% value

in such case is not clear what interval/results should be used for "average" reply? all test results since test creation? all results within last day? probably you will want to reset statistisc for this test once a day

I would recommend to use 1st option
