Auditing Tool: more RMA records than license allows

Post by -Daniel- »

We've just bought a standard license. The auditing tool states the following problem under "System / License":

You have configured more RMA (Remote Monitoring Agent) records than your license allows (max. agents: 0)

But I've never configured a RMA record. How can I solve this problem?

Thanks

Please remove all RMA agent records from HostMonitor.
Just open Test properties dialog for any test item and press button behind "Test by" field to manage RMA agents.

Please check the manual or visit our web site for more information at:

The Button is greyed out, I cannot click on it.

I've activated the column "Test by" for the main window and there is "HostMonitor" recorded for every test.

Are you sure, after you opened "Test properties" dialog, small button behind Test By field is disabled ?
Also, you may use RMA manager (rma_mgr.exe) to remove RMA agent records.

There can be RMA agent records, that are not used by any test item, however, they will be counted by HostMonitor.

Yes, I'm sure. I've made a screenshot:

There is no file rma_mgr.exe. During the installation I've chosen to install the Lite/Standard edition and I think the RMA manager won't be installed with this option.

There is the file agents.lst in programs\HostMonitor8. This file is dated 07.07.2003.

If I replace this file with an empty one I get the error message "cannot load RMA list. Unexpected end of file/stream" when I start Host Monitor. But after I confirm this error message, HostMonitor works fine and there are no more license problems in the auditing tool.

I think all I need is an correct empty file "agents.lst".

Yes, RMA Manager is not installed in Lite/Standard mode.
Yes, Standard license does not include any RMA.
Yes, you cannot manage RMA when you do not have any RMA license.
Yes, 1 RMA record comes with installation package just as sample.

Yes, Auditing Tool shows this warning. It does not lead to any problems if you have RMA record without RMA license and you do not use RMA at all. However it can be confusing  Probably we need to modify Auditing Tool check a little bit...

Thank you for the clarification. I'm always very carefully regarding licenses but with your statement the problem is solved.
