Trace Test

Post by seelye »

I'm hesitant to call this a bug but I experienced a situation where a TRACE TEST didn't report a Route Change.

HM Host is: Windows 2003 32bit
HM Version 9.06
Test is performed by a Passive RMA v4.42 running as a service on Windows 2008 R2.

My test is configured as follows
Test By: Passive Agent (Windows 2008 R2)
Test Method: Trace Test
Address: (masked for security) 9.9.9.9
Timeout: 2000
Packet Size: 32
Retries: 6
Alert when: Route was Changed
Display: Route, full mode (hop, IP address, time)
[x] Tread Unknown status as Bad
[x] Treat Warning status as Bad
[ ] use Warning status if <unused>
[ ] use Normal status if <unused>
Test ever 30 Minutes

Alert Profile simply sends an email (and this works when I reverse the alert).

Logging is set to a Private Log using REPLY mode

In looking through my log files I see that the second through last HOP of the route changed between two tests but both tests report OK and all subsequent test also show OK. I never got a BAD status. In fact even the number of hops increased from 11 to 12. Any ideas of how this happened or how to diagnose? I can send the detailed logs with the REAL IP's through private channel if you think that would help.

Thanks.
