VMware monitoring via SOAP/XML

Post by Gavin »

Hello Hostmonitor experts!

As always we are on the latest version of Hostmonitor and this is the last test I need to get working before we are able to purchase the upgrade.

All of our VMware servers are on 5.0 as a default install accessible over the internet (strictly controlled firewall) on port 444.

I have used the test imported in from the previous thread to set this up as a test.

I am doing the test direct from HostMonitor as these servers are not on the LAN. If I go to the address direct in the browser I do get the VMware ESXI 5 screen (after a certificate error). I have checked in Options > Misc > Url settings to ensure that the options to ignore said SSL errors are ticked - they are.

Now at a loss, either I am doing something completely wrong or I have missed something serious. As you can see when I do the test in the properties it is coming back with HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request.

Any help appreciated!!!

It appears that I have found the issue, we had two port forwards setup.

This leads to my next problem. I have changed to the appropriate port of 5989 and I am now getting this response

HTTP/1.1 501 Not Implemented
Content-Length: 0
Server: sfcHttpd

Any idea?

HTTP/1.1 501 Not Implemented
Possible reasons:
- wrong protocol (e.g. http instead of https)
- wrong port number (e.g. wrong port forwarding)
- wrong request type (e.g. GET instead of POST)

Hi

I've tried changing the protocol to HTTP and it doesn't connect at all. Port number is definitely correct (I can telnet to it and the port responds). Request type is POST.

Anymore ideas or checks I can run?

1) We just does not have enough information because we are not VMWare developers.
2) We tried to find solution on vmware forums, everything we know we posted in nearby thread
