how to write script to get ping result

we often need to get the result of ping from specially appointed source address to specially appointed destination address
can anyone tell me how to write script to achieve it

first telnet a network device
then ping specially appointed address。
get the value of ping

Ping from hostA to hostB while HostMonitor installed on hostC?
Probably you can use SSH test method.
It depends what OS do you use (OS runnign on hostA)...

On the other hand, you may install Remote Monitoring Agent (RMA) on hostA and use it for various tests, inluding Ping.

here hostA is a network device such as cisco 、 3com、 juniper routers or switch we can not install rma on it

it is very useful to network administrator.

Then I think its better to check manual for your device.
Some routers may check channel quality and send SNMP Trap messages when problem detected.
