301 access is denied

Post by babar.munir »

I have upgraded our ver (4.86) to the latest 9.58. the first issue which i am facing is setting up a memory alert which is giving me error "301 Access is denied) on my couple of servers. all other remaining alerts are working fine i.e services/process or drive space alerts etc..

this specific alert was previously configured in performance counter and was working fine..

OS=windows 2k8 and win 2k3

plz help ?

We had the same question 2 days ago:
http://www.ks-soft.net/cgi-bin/phpBB/vi ... php?t=7252

WMI protocol?
Have you specified account for target server using Connection Manager?

Test performed by Remote Monitoring Agent?
Started as service? application?

i checked connection manager, but could not find any option where can i specify account using RMA..

i simply add "memory" test alert.all other alerts for same server are working perfectly i.e services, disk space, process etc,

You do not need to specify account for RMA.
Just specify user account credentials for target hostname/IP (e.g. \\targethost) and select all test methods, used for this target server.

Please check for details at:

WMI protocol requires credentials information.
as memory alert does nt require "connect as".. see the screen shot
Please click HostMonitor (or RCC) menu Profiles -> Connection Manager and setup account for target host.

And all your clients do not use domains?

RMA installed on some host inside remote network?
but not on the host you are monitoring?
however both hosts (RMA host and target host) located in the same domain? same workgroup?

If you provide monioring service, you need SPL license, not Enterprise

WMI protocol requires credentials information.

but if you see the screen shot it was not asking any credential info..
Please click HostMonitor (or RCC) menu Profiles -> Connection Manager and setup account for target host.
i have already tried it..nothing happens . but i will study CM again tomorrow in detail..

So you think we implemented Connection Manager just for fun?
We implemented Connection Manager because its necessary. You cannot login to Windows system without username and password. This makes sense, right?

1) Its not alert. This is TEST item. Alerts/actions is what you define using menu Profiles -> Action profiles.
2) How Memory test could work in HostMonitor 4.86?? This test method was implemented in version 9.46.
May be you are talking about Performance Counter test method? This is different test, it has different settings, it uses different protocols.
i have already tried it..nothing happens . but i will study CM again tomorrow in detail..
May we see settings? Please send screenshots or configuration files to support@ks-soft.net

PS
if you have access to remote systems, start SNMP service and use SNMP mode for the test. SNMP uses much less resources than WMI
