Problem with NT Event Log tests

Post by david.matthewson »

Hi

My system is:

HostMon 9.90 running on Win 208 server, monitoring about 6 servers with a bout 12 tests on each.

I've been running NT Log tests for App, Security & System logs for a long time with no problems. I now want to monitor the DFS log on one of the 2008 servers.

I've tried copying a Security log test and modifying it and also creating a new test from scratch. In both cases they return 'no errors' even though i an see warnings and error in the NT logs.

I'm using the NT api as I have always found if I use the Vista API even with creds I can't connect.

Has anyone else managed to get HostMon to work with DFS logs?

I should add that if I set up the test from scratch, I can pick the correct logs from the pull down which suggests to me HostMon is correctly 'seeing' the remote server and it's logs.

TiA

So ,using "Windows NT mode" and after specifying Computer(UNC), you are able to select Log/Channel from the list?
Do you use RCC or HostMonitor to setup NT Event log test item?
May we see NT Event log test settings (screenshot or export to text file) and event in Windows "Event Viewer" (screenshot)?

Thanks Alex

Yes, "you are able to select Log/Channel from the list" - that is correct.

WRT "Do you use RCC or HostMonitor to setup NT Event log test item? " I use HostMon itself not the RCC.

I'll email you some screen shots etc.

many thanks for your excellent support - as always!
