RMA agent accepted IP addres ranges

Post by RogerSpraggon »

I am trying to set up RMA agent to accept connections only from listed addresses and as part of that list I want to use 172.16.100.0 - 172.16.107.254 but whenever I active the radio button to only accept connections from following IP addresses it stops working. If I put in a single IP address (of the PC where I am running RCC) it works. If forces me to put space before and after the dash and accepts the entry quite happily but won't work. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing wrong, RMA does not accept IP address range for this filter.
HostMonitor system may have any of these IP addresses (172.16.100.0 - 172.16.107.254)?? Then I think you may tell RMA to accept connection from any IP address and restrict connections using firewall.

Host monitor server has a single IP address but we use RCC and this could be from any PC in the range and it appears to check the IP address of the RCC session when testing RMA agent connection and not the Host Monitor server in this case; hence why I am trying to input the range.
Sounds like once it is set up an running it should be ok

I see. Most requests to agent performed by HostMonitor, but yes, several GUI operations uses RCC->RMA connection. When you setup RMA record using RCC, it may connect to agent just to check connection and retrieve agent version, host OS, etc.
Its not critical - you can setup RMA record without this information, then data will be retrieved by HostMonitor.

I will add task into "to do" list...
