Performance Counter test on System System Up Time issue

Post by cmoarv »

Hi,

I’m using HM 5.62b and have issues when using test performance counter using system\system up time.

The architecture is HM running on a 2000 server (Box A) witch almost never reboot.
Other boxes (Box N) are monitored by Box A. Box N reboots each night. All this architecture is based on an Active Directory authority environment.

The test is working fine as long as I create it and not reboot Box N.
As soon as Boxes N reboots the test status displayed in HM on Box A is switching from Ok to unknown with reply ‘The remote procedure call failed’ or ‘The handle is invalid’. This until I reboot the Box A…

I was wondering if an issue like this could be or not a bug in HM according the fact using the Windows Performance tests in Control Panel\ Administrative Tools\Performance link to one of Boxes N and monitoring the same counter (System\System Up Time) is working fine even after having rebooted Boxes N.

Could you please have a look to my issue and let me know what you think about it ?

Thanks in advance

Its bug in Performance Counter DLLs. Try to use "External" mode for Performance Counter tests. Option located on Misc page in the Options dialog

Alex,

Tks a lot for your quick feed back.
