Unknown Status --> Treat unknown status as Bad

Post by stewag »

Hostmonitor Version 5.38

we check on Windows2003-Server the services (Server-Service - Srv).
When the Server go down, then to display the Hostmonitor the Server-Status as Unknown, but the Hostmonitor doesn't alerting (no mail, no Pagercall). But, when i set "Treat Unknown status as Bad", the resulat is the same, no alert... why?

Thank's for help

(and sorry for my bad english  )

Correct, if server does not respond at all, Service test shows "Unknown" status because we don't know anything about service (may be there is network problem while service works fine).
But, when i set "Treat Unknown status as Bad", the resulat is the same, no alert... why?
Probably because you setup HostMonitor to start alert 1 time after 1st "bad" result. But test already was "bad" when you set "Thread Unknown status as Bad" option.
I mean if test changes status to "Host is alive" and then changes status back to "Unknown" or "Bad", alerts will be started.
