Hi All,
Trying to get RCC working under Wine (Unbuntu Intrepid, x64 and x32) but getting the following error:
Connection Error: Cannot retrieve error description (error# 10035)
.. which doesn't really help much.
I've got the RCC.exe and RCC.ini in a folder, the frontend launcher comes up, but thats as far as it gets.. any ideas? Am I missing some DLLs HM relies upon possibly?
RCC under Wine

Interesting idea
.. any particular reason for needing it? Stuff in a DMZ maybe? Or just a challenge
BTW, I have no magical knowlege, just a BIG network to play with and an interesting array of OS's deployed for historical reasons.. so your reason may very well be a requirement for me at some point in the future
Almost all our *nix testing is done over ssh from a single host if I remember right for anything difficult to get at.. else the passive agent with shell scripts and built in checks do all we need.. most restricted networks (dmz's, extranets) go out of one of our big datacenters these days, and are looked after by the 24x7 NOC.
Max etc. at KS-Soft supplied me with the source for the passive RMA before, but I'm guessing an active RMA native on *nix is very different else they'd have done it already
If it just needs building on a few platforms I'm happy to do it and post it - I have access to SUSE,Ubuntu,RedHat,AIX,HP-UX,ESX in test/qa without looking too hard.

jivetolkein,
I currently have no real interest, so, yeah, it's more of an academic endeavor.
And it appears that, since you're getting all you need via passive RMA over ssh, you have no incentive other than the same.
But if you ever do give it a go I'd be interested in the results.
You mentioned your BIG network, I'm trying to build a set of 'best of breed' templates for monitoring, among other things, M$SQL servers. Do you have any advice for monitoring M$SQL server events? For instance, I'm currently puzzling over identifying the number and source of active connections to the M$SQL server. I think I can get that via WMI, but I'm open to suggestions.
I get this impression that you are a fountain of information
, so what types of servers/tests do you focus on? I'd love to talk with you 'off-line' if you want to email me @ the link below.
Regards,
Joel

Cool. We have RMA for UNIX version 1.26 that is necessary for new Text Log test method but we do not have AIX and HP-UX... Could you please send e-mail to support@ks-soft.net?If it just needs building on a few platforms I'm happy to do it and post it - I have access to SUSE,Ubuntu,RedHat,AIX,HP-UX,ESX in test/qa without looking too hard
