SMS (GSM) ERROR- "Can't open com4"

Post by efrat »

hello
i have a problem sending SMS (GSM) message through host monitor.
when i press "TEST" it gives an error of "Can't open com4".
when i try to send sms message through Telnet service it works.
i've open the device manager in my 2003 R2 SERVER and the ports that i have are com1 and com2,
com4 stands for the Cellular Modem.
could it be that the port that i have used is incorrect?....
or maybe the Cellular Modem needs a driver installed on the server?....
Appreciate your help.
Efrat.

We already sent you reply by e-mail.
BTW: In your e-mail you said HostMonitor cannot open COM1. So, which COM port is used by your cell phone? COM1 or COM4?
com4 stands for the Cellular Modem.

Its good to have driver installed. In some cases this is necessary. E.g. if you connect your cellular modem using USB port instead of real COM port then appropriate driver must be installed.

Its hard to get some extended diagnostics when Windows API does not allow to open COM port...
Could you please try test program www.ks-soft.net/download/test/GSMCenter.zip ?
Please, setup "SMS Log file" and "GSM-AT Logfile" files, try to send SMS and send the foregoing log files back to us (support@ks-soft.net)
