HM and RMA Connection Problem

Post by Bobzbobz »

Hi

I want my hostmonitor (v. 8.72) to contact a RMA (v. 4.10) on another network, but i get a wierd error.
It accepts the connection, and the "Performed" count increases on the RMA, but on the HM i get "Invalid Argument"-error..

HM: 172.17.2.14
RMA: 172.16.0.26
PW: 666666 (cant type it wrong)

The firewall is wide open between the two, and i can ping/remote desktop etc.

Please help. I have the 30 day trial, but i need to know if i can get this to work, before i buy the full version.

Looks like winsock problem, probably caused by some 3rd party software like antivirus monitor, personal firewall or content monitoring software.
Do you have such software installed on HostMonitor system?
What Windows do you use?
Service Pack?

Could you try to execute "netsh winsock reset" command and reboot the system (system where HostMonitor is running)?

Regards

Hi

Thanks for the answer - i will try it out.
I have Panda Endpoint Protection on both machines.
Windows firewall is disabled on HM-machine.

i run:
HM = Windows 7 Prof 32-bit
RMA = Windows Server 2003 Std Edt SP2 32-Bit

Have you restarted system after using this command?
If this does not help, then you may spend a lot of time trying to find the problem :roll:
I would recommend to install HostMonitor on clean system.

If you want to try fix this system, you may use netdiag utility. Also you may remove some registry keys and reinstall TCP/IP stack...
Please check the following article for some details: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259/

Hi Alex

I restarted the system after the command, and to be sure i did it all once more ;)

But still same result. I installed HM on a clean system ment to run HM only, on an "Event Monitor" hanging in our IT department.

I have only installed Panda Endpoint, VNC viewer (removed again) and Teamviewer on the system.

I will try to troubleshoot via the Microsoft article..

Teamviewer should not be a problem
VNC viewer - we never heard about problems related to it as well.
Panda Endpoint - probably this is the reason of the problem.
Antivirus monitors often lead to various problems, they replaces DLLs, installs drivers and change system behavior in any way they want :x

Hi Alex

On monday i will try to make a fresh install of Win 7 on a computer and hook it up, just like the monitor. Without any programs installed (except HM).
Ill make it identical to the monitor (network), and then ill post the outcome in here ;)
