Question about managing passive rma's remotely

Post by xcentric »

Are passive rma's only able to be manged if they are in the same network/subnet as hm?

I know active rma's can be remotely managed when they are in different geographical locations.

It seems no matter what I do, I get "no rights" message attempting to manage passive rma's remotely.

I enabled remote management/remote updates added ip's etc.
RMA manager connects fine to passive rma but always shows operable status.

I am missing something here as I dont use passvie rma's much.

It does not matter where RMA is located, you just need to specify correct IP address(es) in "Enable remote managment from addresses..." option.
Note: some routers located between networks can translate IP address so you need to know what IP address is used in TCP packets that reach agent.

You know I have noticed this before but it did not occur to me in this instance. Indeed using the NAT'd ip has worked. Thanks.
