All questions related to installations, configurations and maintenance of Advanced Host Monitor (including additional tools such as RMA for Windows, RMA Manager, Web Servie, RCC).
I just upgraded to 9.18 from 9.16 yesterday. Immediately after the upgrade, I started getting alerts from a number of my machines. Refreshing the problem tests, I started to find that all of my CPU tests and many if not all of my tests of services were taking an inordinately long time responding while SNMP and NT Log test were working fine. Sometimes a response would come back and other times the test would simply time out. I have since reverted back to 9.16 and those problems have disappeared. Any ideas as to what is causing the problem and how do I resolve this?
Do you use ODBC logging or ODBC test method? If yes, what ODBC driver do you use?
Do you have installed some antivirus monitors, personal firewall, content monitoring software? Non stanard winsock components?
It's running on Win2K8R2. We don't have any ODBC tests or logging. We are running a Symantec client on the host system. The Windows firewall is off but the host is behind a firewall and is monitoring systems within the same firewall context so it doesn't have to pass through the firewall. Keep in mind that 9.16 was and is running fine in this same environment.
We are going to bring up 9.18 on a test system to see if the problem can be duplicated. If that works then we will look at converting the current physical host to a VM and try the upgrade again on the VM to see if the problem repeats itself.
We cannot reproduce the problem and truth to say we do not see how it can work differently from version 9.16
Could you send your configuration files (*.HML, *.LST, *.INI) to support@ks-soft.net?
Late Friday I was able to install 9.18 on a VM. Initially I thought I was seeing the problem there as well, but more testing showed that it was working fine. I have to assume that there is some issue with our current installation that is causing the problem. I will look into that further.
H'm, if you are using the same configuration (have you copied HML and LST files?) then I think problem relates to system, not HostMonitor configuration...
Well, if you copied HML file and start HostMonitor, then its too late to add LST files. When you want to copy/move entire configuration, you should copy all files.
So you may stop testing instance of HostMonitor, copy HML file again, copy LST files, then start HostMonitor.
Went back and upgraded the original 9.16 installation again. This time it upgraded flawlessly. No idea what caused the original problem. Everything is now back to normal. Thanks for all of your help.
