Inherit the Actions And the accounts
Inherit the Actions And the accounts
Hi Team,
I am looking for the best monitoring software, and yours product is the best, but missing some features, or I haven't found.
Is it possible:
- save different credentials , example ODBC, SQL, Windows etc.. and that credentials can inherit in the tree?
- is it possible to inherit the actions?

Sorry, I do not understand what means "credentials can inherit in the tree"
There is Connection Manager http://ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.h ... htm#conmgr
is this what you need?
What exactly means "inherit the actions"?
Normally you can use the same action profile for many different test items because you may use macro variables when setup actions

If I create a lot of ODBC monitors, i would like to setup the odbc account on the highest level folder once a time, and the odbc credentials can inherit into the sub-folders , and i cannot setup any username + password on the ODBC monitor.
Or Can I use any variable in the ODBC monitors - username or passwd?

I created an exe file which can retrieve some parameters, and i would like to setup that exe than the 1st action for the top level folder, and the that action has to be inherit to the sub-folders.
is it possible?

It does not work this way. Do you need this option because you need to change password on regular basis and you plan to use the same password for many ODBC Query tests? Then we may extend "SetTestParam password" command for ODBC Query test...If I create a lot of ODBC monitors, i would like to setup the odbc account on the highest level folder once a time, and the odbc credentials can inherit into the sub-folders , and i cannot setup any username + password on the ODBC monitor.

You assign action profiles to test items, not folders. However you may assign parameters of the actions on folder-level (check Variables page).I created an exe file which can retrieve some parameters, and i would like to setup that exe than the 1st action for the top level folder, and the that action has to be inherit to the sub-folders.
is it possible?

Also, you may assign specific alert profile for set of tests at once (manually or using HMScript)

Yes, that feature would be nice if as possible. Do you have any ETA for that? and When will come out the version 9 final version not the beta?

20,000 ODBC tests? Its heavy configuration. How often do you need to perform each test? Once a day? Every 2 min?We have approx more than 200 Customers and each customer has 100 odbc monitors, and we need to change the monuser password every 2 or 3 months.
I hope you don't need to check Oracle database? Oracle ODBC drivers have too many bugs.
May be in version 9.90 (probably in June).Yes, that feature would be nice if as possible. Do you have any ETA for that? and When will come out the version 9 final version not the beta?
Next release (version 9.86) - next week.

2)Do you have any roadmap, or document which version will contains which changes or?
Around 35 tests per second?1)Hi, yes we have some test which run every 5 mins, but the most of the monitors are running every 10 mins.
What ODBC drivers do you use?
We have such document but its for internal use only.2)Do you have any roadmap, or document which version will contains which changes or?

1) Orcale driver with microsoft ODBC (+ tnsnames)
2)
a) Inherit the multiple account in the tree srtucture , example i can define one ODBC, one SQL, Windows account, and that account can be inherit unbder the subfolders...
b) we would like to use the tnsname field from the variable -> for the templates
c) is it possible to setup the unkown status mean "ok" or "bad" in the result?
d) monitor severity , example -> info,critical,warning...etc..
e) data export i mean actual status to an html page, that page shows, the mionitor id, name, result, folder structure etc...

Do you mean Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle?
There is such ODBC driver from Microsoft.
What we have to do with it?

I have added your suggestion into "to do" list.

Normally Unknown status processed just like Bad one. Unless you unmark "Treat Unknown status as Bad".
Also you may set Warning or Normal status. Please check the manual
http://ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.h ... processing

What exactly device/parameter do you need to monitor? Do you need these options for all test methods?
Then use Optional status processing, set Warning or Normal status when you need.

Sound like you need Web Service

Optional status processing does not fit your needs? Why?
http://ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.h ... CustomHTML
You may use various variables
http://ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.h ... .htm#macro
I just not sure what is 20879, MonitorID, Monitor name.
Please use HostMonitor terminology.

You may use Custom HTML report (it can use any templates, with or without real HTML code)> yes sounds like, but the result example simple html without any css or something:
