Web User can't change preferences

Post by Robert_in_MTL »

Hi,
RCC = 4.8.4
HM = 9.8.4
Web Service = 4.04

Users accessing the web service can't change their web préférences, whatever I choose in the webservice -> options -> User Profiles

All I get is "User does not have right to change préférences"

Even if I uncheck the user name in the menu called "Do not allow the folowing users to change their préférences"

now I can't see how to change the user's display (it's used for big screen monitoring display up on a wall)

I also looked in the operator profiles un RCC without luck

What setting did I miss ?

Thank you

.

I assume you are getting this error in web browser?
You should unmark User account in the following dialog:
webservice.exe -> Options -> User Profiles...

If this will not help, try the following:
1. Close webservice.exe
2. Refresh web browser
3. Start webservice.exe again and check if username is still unmarked (menu Options -> User Profiles...)
4. Refresh web browser

hmmm,
I tried that and it does not work with that menu...

I also stopped the webservice and re-started it without success.

Now I just closed all browsers and re-opened, and it seemed to have fixed it

Now I have trouble re-blocking the right...

It is very troublesome to have to stop the webservice and close browsers to change a setting !

Not sure why you have to close browser and restart webservice :roll:
Webservice restart was necessary for old versions of web service started on Windows Vista+ in Win32 service mode. In such case you make changes using another instance of web service started as application...
But you don't need to do this anymore, just wait a little bit (5 or 10 sec, don't remember exactly) and web service will apply changes.

Regarding browser restart - as we know you may need this for Internet Expolorer only because it ignores some flags and may ignore manual "refresh" commands as well.
Now I have trouble re-blocking the right...
now I can't see how to change the user's display (it's used for big screen monitoring display up on a wall)
Sorry, I do not understand what do you mean.
Could you describe what exactly does not work properly?

Regards
Alex

yep, I was unclear, sorry

I had problems re-locking the rights for different users.

Making the changes and waiting sometimes for 20~30 seconds did not change anything, the rights were still blocked when I unchecked the user'name to allow him to change préférences.

weird thing:

I save the security setting, click [OK], and close the webservice gui
re-open it to check the value: it is ok...

go on th web page as the specified user to test, I can change the préférences without problems, but Watch this: going back in the webservice gui to check the setting: it has beed unchecked !!

problem....
