All questions related to installations, configurations and maintenance of Advanced Host Monitor (including additional tools such as RMA for Windows, RMA Manager, Web Servie, RCC).
I'm running HM 9.84b on W2k8r2 with about 600 test items.
Lately, I noticed that quite a few "CPU Usage" tests run for a very long time, showing the hourglass meanwhile.
This can run up to serveral minutes, sometimes getting a timeout.
I see this behaviour on Windows 2003 and 2008 servers, as well as on W7 workstations.
Do you mean "Checking..." test status (hourglass test item icon)? not application level hourglass cursor?
This test uses RPC and Remote Registry service, its relatively slow but should not take a minute. Are you checking hosts located in the same LAN and domain with HostMonitor system?
Have you checked resource usage on HostMonitor and remote systems? CPU usage, threads, total handles usage?
I have 1 particular CPU load test that takes forever, resulting in a timeout.
While this test is running (i.e. in "Checking.." state), all other CPU load tests take very long.
I have now disabled this particular test, and all other tests run fine now.
HostMonitor tries do not perform many CPU Usage tests at once because of bugs in older Windows API.
We will modify code so it will work faster on Windows 2008...
