New view for interface...

Post by mikepiet »

We are looking at using AHM for monitoring our NOC (network operations center) and connecting the monitoring server to a large 30 or 40 inch LCD. On the LCD would be the list of tests and if anything ever happened, a tech or help desk person would see the problem visually first.

The problem we are having now is that when the number of tests increase, the tests will run off the bottom of the screen and you need to use the scroll bar to see all of them.

Of course we tried the other two ICON, views, both small and large icons but the look was somewhat difficult to understand as it looks like just a bunch of icons running across the screen in no real order.

Don't get the wrong idea, we love the product but would like to request a change in the views. Perhaps to something like this....

http://manageengine.adventnet.com/produ ... toring.gif

Or maybe just a way to have the large icon views to be seperated into squares for each folder.

Thanks,

Michael

As I see this view requires even more space than any view used by HostMonitor.
Probably its better to display HTML report that can be customized to suit your needs?
E.g.

We use the dashboard view for just this reason - it shows when something in one folder is down and techs can then drill down

Thanks for posting the replies guys!

Perhaps the "dashboard" view could be put in the GUI, hint hint?

The only problem I have is that we have strict rules on running web servers on desktops.

But you have some web server anyway? Then you may copy HTML Dashboard report into folder available thru your web server

Great idea!

I went into AHM, went to the reports tab and none of the reports look to be the dashboard report.

I would like to have it generate a report every minute or so.

Can you explain to me how I can go about generating the dashboard report?

I can handle the synchronization to the web server.

Thanks Alex!

Use Report Manager to configure the report. Pages 93-99 in the manual (if you are using HostMonitor version 5.92)
Then you may setup HostMonitor to generate report every minute using Reports page in the Options dialog (if you need report for entire test list) or you may use Reports page in the Folder Properties dialog (if you need report for some specific folder)
