Text log test on remote Unix machines

Post by vidyagana »

Hi :

I have HostMonitor server software installed on a Windows system. I have a remote Unix box that I want to perform a text log test on, but I do not want to install the RMA for Unix agent yet because the Unix box is a production server and we need to get some permission to install the RMA agent. In the meantime I want to know if there is a way that I can perform the text log test on the remote Unix box without installing the RMA agent.

Thanks.

If Samba is installed on remote Unix machine, you may share folder, that contains text file, you want to monitor, and use UNC path to the file in File input box of Text Log test window.

Samba is software that can be run on a platform other than Microsoft Windows, for example, UNIX, Linux, IBM System 390, OpenVMS, and other operating systems. Samba uses the TCP/IP protocol that is installed on the host server. When correctly configured, it allows that host to interact with a Microsoft Windows client or server as if it is a Windows file and print server.

Use SftpDrive (http://www.sftpdrive.com/) on Windows:
"Map your SSH server as a Windows network drive with SftpDrive."
