Unable to send SMS via USB modem
Hi Max
Thats done the Trick! Just receiving the 1 SMS now!!! Cheers
I am using v 6.42
I now have another slight problem... I have mutipul numbers that need to receive the SMS. Only the 1st number in the list are getting the message.
I have this setup as 2 seperate actions
sms number1
sms number2
I have also tried setting it as 1 action using a comma to seperate the number but neither number received the SMS?
number1, number2 also tried number1,number2
I tested via the SMS test, and i get the following results
send as follows Number1, Number2
Sending...
Com port open .. Ok
GSM modem initialization .. Ok

The modem has got filled up with all the unsent tests mesages.
You may wish to reset the modem via HyperTerminal (fully exit any other program accesing the modem).
AT+NDFT Loads the default configuration
Resets the configuration to the factory default.
The AT+NDFT comand resets all parameters and erases any stored mesages, resetting the modem to the factory state, which has the correct service centre numbers for UK use. It is not normally necessary to change any of these parameters, unless the modem is being used on a PABX or outside the UK.

If you are trying to send SMS using "SMS Test" window, it really sends SMS to first recipient only. However, if SMS is sent by "Send SMS" action, it is possible to specify several numbers, separated by semicolon ;dazhallt5 wrote:I now have another slight problem... Quote from the manual:
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... htm#actSMS
==============
Destination phone
Provide phone number to which the message should be sent. More than one recipients separating with a semicolon ( ; ). For example "+12063979723;+1555204090".

The log, you have posted above is the only log. The same information you may find in system log (file is specified in "Options > System" log tab) in case the "Record info about successful actions" and "Record info about failed actions" options are enabled.dazhallt5 wrote:Max is it possible to generate a log from the Send SMS Action?
I am working on logging improvements. From the foregoing log, i can see that Host Monitor has sent two messages to the modem. Probably, you mistyped the second number? Or number is incorrect?
Paul, probably your software, that is supplied with modem, offers built-in logging functions? Is it possible to enable them?
Regards,
Max
Darren is getting exactly the same results as my own tests. I have verified that the +CMGS:xx is being sent by the Z-text, and appears to have been received by Host Monitor.
Is it possible that Host Monitor is looking for <CR>+CGMS: xx<CR> rather than just +CGMS: xx<CR> which is what the Z-text sends? I can't think of what else could be causing it to not be recognised.

It does, but that isn't running when using Host Monitor. The USB driver doesn't have any logging capability. As mentioned previously, I have been using PortMon to log the communications.probably your software, that is supplied with modem, offers built-in logging functions?

"No reply on AT command" error appears when HostMonitor does not receive reply from modem within specified timeout.SMSNigel wrote:Is it possible that Host Monitor is looking for <CR>+CGMS: xx<CR> rather than just +CGMS: xx<CR> which is what the Z-text sends? Darren, Nigel, please, download the new version of KSGsmXLib.ocx and copy to HostMonitor folder. http://www.ks-soft.net/download/ksgsmxlib.zip
Please note: you should stop HostMonitor instance before copying.
Could you try the following:
- add registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KS-Soft\GSMX, set DefaultRetries DWORD value to 1 (should be already done)
- set DefaultRecTimeOut DWORD value to 20000
- restart HostMonitor and test SMS function
DefaultRecTimeOut is the timeout in ms used when the object is waiting for character receiving.
By default, HostMonitor uses 6000 ms timeout. You may try to increase timeout. Probably, 20000 ms should be enough. Could you try it?
Regards,
Max

@dazhallt5,
Hi,
we have an SMS-Service running via clickatell.com. It uses the HTTP-Request-Action
(we started before the send-SMS-Action was introduced). It was set up within 30 mins,
you can send as many SMS to as many admins you want, it costs about 0,08€ per SMS and it works fine.
The only thing you cannot monitor is your internet access itself
If you are interested in more details, drop me a line.
Cheers
Thomas
