Multiple Event IDs

Post by Matt Wardle »

Hello,

We have two tests set up to monitor the NT Event Viewer on each server.

one is set up to monitor the Application Log and one is set up to monitor the System log.

What we have been doing is checking when it is triggered and then adding the event id number to the Exceptions list.

however, multiple programs use the same Event IDs for different errors.

How do i get around this? I don’t want to go and miss something critical.

thanks

HostMonitor allows you to check source of the event and event description as well. I think its good to check manual that comes with such software (software you want to monitor) and then setup the test.

In some cases if you need to monitor many applications using NT Event Log and some applications use the same event ID for critical and non-important messages then you may need to setup more that 1 test per server. E.g. you may need to setup 1 test item per application...

Alex
