Unable to perform any TCP connection Test

Hello NG,
i've recently downloaded the (latest) demo/trial of HM. First i'd like to say that it seems to be one of the best software for monitoring services - and it's not the first i am testing...

Enviroment: Windows Server 2003 with SP1 and all available Patches (fresh Installation with no other Software). HM latest Version (downloaded a few hours ago). 2 NIC's: one "public" one private (172.22.x.x). Windows Firewall activated only on public Interface (tested even with stopped Firewall Service)

But one.. sorry two great problems:
- at moment i am unable to perform any tcp connection test (or better never got an answer).
Tried several things:
connect via Telnet to "LocalMailServer 25" => correct answer
connect via Telnet to "MailServers in Internet 25" => correct answer
tcp connect via HM "LocalMailServer 25" => NO answer
(in the realtime Log from mailserver i can see the connect from HM-IP)
same error for MailServers in Internet 25

smtp connect via HM "LocalMailServer 25" => NO answer
the same problem for several other tested ip/ports - telnet "ip port" => no problem; tcp connect "ip port" => No Answer

POP / HTTP Test's to the same server's worked without problem

- "Connect as" not working
trying to determine if service is running on remote system HM will LogOn as Name given for "Service LogOn": Options-Service-UseAccount (if running as Service) or Name "LocalLoggedOn" (if running as DesktopApplication) => and all above even if in TestService is "Connect as" is checked and different UserName/Pass is given.
Seen in EventLog from RemoteMachine => Security. The Name of the "HM-User" is logged - not the "Connect AS - User"

1st Problem is the greater on - 2nd not really hard.

Has someone an idea where i could try to search for an solution ?

1st problem looks like Norton Antivirus Monitor or McAfee issue. Do you have antivirus installed? Real-time monitoring is enabled?

Reason of 2nd problem is hidden deep in Windows code. HostMonitor calls Windows API function to establish communication with remote system using username and password specified for that resource (we are 100% sure, we tested HM with this problem a lot), but sometimes Windows uses name and password of the user that is logged in (instead of directly specified name and password).
Unfortunately we did not find reason of that strange behavior, it happens with different versions of the Windows but not all the time.

Solution?
There is one trick:
- setup special account for HostMonitor on local system
- if HostMonitor is running as service, specify this account on Service page in the Options dialog. Otherwise log in under that account
- setup account with the same name and password on remote system

Ash on my head! I sad "No other Software".... but our AV Scanner WAS installed (not Norton - PandaAV with TruePrevent<= THATS IT)

Nevertheless i could not understand why its works from a telnet session ....

Not very nice - but working.

For my third question i've found the answer (not solution) in the forum: Message to ICQ not working (would be IMHO the best Action)...

Antivirus may check what application initiates TCP session and allow connection to one application while restrict for others. I think there should be some list of "good" applications.
For my third question i've found the answer (not solution) in the forum: Message to ICQ not working (would be IMHO the best Action)...
I am afraid ICQ is not nice solution anymore. We are testing our new module and it looks like ICQ does not accept messages that come one after another. Looks like some "anti-spam" function. So, if HostMonitor send 1 message, it will be delivered. If 20 tests fail and HostMonitor sends 20 messages, you may receive just 8.
