Hi Alex,

I just downloaded HM 3.56 and can use the timeout feature of the TCP connection test. Every time I change the timeout value to something different from 0, almost instantly the test goes to bad. Doesn't matter the value (from 1 to 600000 msec) in about 2 to 3 seconds after refresh the test goes to bad. If I change it back to 0 everything works nice !!

Thanks,

Regards.

I'm using windows XP pro, and have a similar problem.

I need to connect to specific ports (such as 7777 or 3456) to test service availability rather than server status, and have had similiar results - setting the timeout seems to make the problem worse, rather than allowing it longer to test.

However, it's also very odd that some hosts respond correctly, but others (that I know are up and running fine) show as "No Answer".

Any ideas?

Ross

H'm, we tested HostMonitor on XP, it worked correctly.

Could you please provide IP addresses for some of the others hosts? If they are accessible from the Internet, we can try to check what's wrong.

Hi

Thanks for the swift reply - it's difficult to give you specifics as they may test as bad for 20 tests, then test fine for 20, seemingly random. Please accept my appologies that this is a pretty poor answer, and not very helpful in diagnosing the problem!

regards,

Ross

Probably you just use too small timeout?
