CPU Status Unknown for Windows XP
I am using Host Monitor and trying to get a CPU Usage reply from a windows XP machine. I only get UNKNOWN as a reply. This is a fresh install with SP1 and I have shared only the drives. I also have a fresh install of Win2k with SP3 and CPU usage monitoring works fine right out of the box. But Every Windows XP machine I have will not reply. I have Remote registry enabled and have tried logging in using the admistrator. Nothing seems to work can someone please help?
H'm, by default administrator should have access to performance counters. Could you check which users or groups can gain access to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows_NTCurrentVersionPerflib (you can use the registry editor utility Regedt32.exe on remote XP system)? In order for to query performance data, account must have KEY_READ access to the above registry key.
BTW: do you start HostMonitor as regular application or as Win32 servce? Do you use domain or local administrator account? Do you use "Connect as" option of the CPU test?
Regards
Alex
