Hello,
Is it possible to read the temperature from a matrix 3000 ups by snmp?
The intention is that if the temperature increase, it gives me a waring by sms. Or what brand/type of temperature probe is working well with KHost monitor? Somebody told me there are types of probe's you can build in into a serverrack, from HP but he couldn't told me the exact type.
Can somebody help me with this?
Tnx!
APC matrix 3000
Do you have manual that comes with this device? Can you send us a link?
- SNMP Get: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... tm#chkSNMP

If this device support SNMP protocol, then yes. HostMonitor offers 2 test methods:Is it possible to read the temperature from a matrix 3000 ups by snmp?

We tested HostMonitor with temperature-sensing units from SensatronicsOr what brand/type of temperature probe is working well with KHost monitor?

Sorry for stepping in, but I have a bit of experience with APC/MGE UPS's.
These units have one SmartSlot interface available. Do you have the SmartSlot UPS Network Management Card? If so, you can have your HostMonitor server pick up those alerts, once you've configured it. Depending upon the APC/MGE model this can also be used for monitoring battery status, circuit load, etc.
Additionally there is an environmental SmartSlot card to read room temp/humidity, but in order to use two SmartSlot cards you would need to add the SmartSlot Expansion Chassis. For all your options, look here.

Sidenote: There's also a product from a company called CellWatch that not only provides continual battery monitoring, but also a unique approach to predictive battery failure alarming.
If your interested in how it works, it's really a cool technique of injecting a microamp of AC through your DC battery in order to test it's health. In the long run this is equally effective and much less stressing on your battery than the traditional method of full load testing each cell, which actually reduces your battery life.
And this can be done nightly, weekly, or monthly. You can then reduce your annual support contract$ accordingly, opting for an annual instead of quarterly PM visits (which I assume you have included in your contract, otherwise you're exposed). You'll need to check with your UPS vendor to see if they provide/support it.

I'm afraid that you misunderstand. You won't be using the "IT Temperature Monitor" method if your using the built in SNMP alerts provided by the Network Management card. The Management card and, more specifically, the temperature hardware behind it are abstracted.
Like you I sometimes struggle with SNMP. There's very little that's 'simple' about it.
Either the Operators manual or your APC vendor should be able to provide you with specific information on how to set this up.
