RCC Connection Issue

Post by jivetolkein »

Getting the following error dialogue attempting to edit a test using RCC:

Warning:

Cannot retrieve patern list
HostMonitor response: Wrong Command. Unknown command "getpatternstream"

(Spelling is as the dialogue box)

W2K3 SP2 server, HM 7.52, RCC is from latest build of HM

Any ideas? haven't restarted HM yet as it'll kick our operators in Mumbai, but it wouldn't be the end of the world to do this....[/img]

I would try the RCC from the 7.52 Build, I would always use the same RCC version as HM is installed.

In general case Martin is right. We recommend to use RCC from appropriate HM package. However, I cannot reproduce problem with HM 7.52 and RCC 2.78 (from latest 7.78 package). Could you verify version of RCC you use, please?

Apologies, got side tracked ^^

The issue still occurs -

RCC version 2.78
HM is v. 7.52

It only appears to be on my workstation (that I know of), and is when clicking into a test to edit.

I do 99% of my work RDP'd into the server, so haven't had to pursue this, but maybe I should :-)

Does it appear when you edit some particular test method? Or it appears when you edit any test?

Any test at all. I'll try regressing my RCC.exe as suggested, but I'm pretty sure I upgraded it to get around another issue... if only I could remember what that was..

Ok, I can confirm the "Unknown command "getpatternstream"" message appears when rcc 2.78 is utilized to connect to HostMonitor 7.52 Actually, "Templates (patterns)" feature was introduced in version 7.70, so, rcc 2.78 is designed to be used with HostMonitor version above 7.70

Suggestion is the same: downgrade rcc to version 2.57, that is supplied with HostMonitor version 7.52, or upgrade HostMonitor to version 7.78

Hm. Anyway, problem fixed in latest releases, I suppose. So upgrading HostMonitor should help.
