Check if global monitoring or alerting is disabled

Post by MirkoW »

Hi,

it is able to check it if global monitoring or alerting is disabled? for example with a test or an external script?

sometimes we forgot to activate the monitoring/alerting and we can only see it if there are start-buttons ont the icon-bar at top

Check if global monitoring or alerting is disabled

Why don't you use "Pause alerting till" option (menu Monitoring -> Pause...) ?
This will pause alerts only for some time.

Also you may create Action Profile "Execute HMS script": http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... #actScript
Condition to start action: on the schedule
HMS script may contain only one command: EnableAlerts

This Action can be launched through built-in Scheduler (menu Options -> Scheduler).
However if monitoring is stopped, Scheduler will be deactivated.

You may use HM Monitor test method (and 2nd instance of HostMonitor)

WatchDog shows special icons when HostMonitor monitoring is stopped or alerts disabled but it does not start alerts in such case.

I have added this task into "to do" list. Low priority

BTW: What is the reason to stop monitoring? If you maintenance some devices, you may easily disable or pause several test items without stopping entire monitoring. Also you may pause monitoring so HostMonitor will resume it automatically.

hi,

up to 4 admins use hostmonitor and stop global monitoring for maintenance. Somebody do set wrong pause-times or forgot to enable the monitoring. So it is easier for us if we get an alert until alerting/monitoring is enabled.
