Exclude from Quick Log?

Post by NextLevel »

I would like to record a test history (i.e. CPU samples every minute) in a private log, full. No problem, but every test is in the quick log too - that is not desired. It fills up the quicklog for nothing.

How can I prevent tests from writing quick log entries?

Quick Log behavior depends on logging settings. If logging is enabled, records will be added into Quick Log as well.

IMHO private logging should not do that.

I will get 1440 useless quicklog entries a day. And the USEFULL entries are gone due list limit...

So this means, no way to record w/o quick log?

What means "usefull entries" in this case?

Actually there are only 10 records in quick log for each test item. If you disable or enable quick log for this item, this will not have big effect on "per-folder" quick log and this will not have any effect on "other test" quick log.
So this means, no way to record w/o quick log?
H'm.. as usually there is another way - you may disable logging for this test and use "Record HM Log" action assigned to the test.

It concerns to the over-all quick log thru web interface. I have a standalone monitor just for this auto-refreshing log view. Bad test results are marked red and are therefore eye-catchers (these tests are set to "brief" logging). This means "usefull" here.

But the CPU tests are not for alerting, just for recording. Every quick log entry is moving the "usefull" ones more and more out of sight. With 5 CPU tests every minute - after 7 minutes - any "usefull" entry before is no longer on the screen, seen or not.

This is why i wish these "useless" quick log entries away.

Sounds good, I'll check it out, Thanks a lot

Normally this should not happen because
- per-test quick log: 10 records
- per-folder quick log: 50 records (and can be increased)
This means single test cannot override more than 10 records.

What version of the software do you use?

Unless you have many CPU Usage tests that you want to exclude...
