HTTP with Zscaler Proxy does not work (Status always bad)

Post by Joerg Bartke »

Hi,
I'm using HM 9.22 on Windows7 64Bit. Probe is behind a firewall. We are customer of Zscaler WebProxy Cloud Service. I try to set up a HTTP Test probing http://www.google.de with a proxy defined in the proxy field. The proxy has authorization none and is using port 80. Request is "get", timeout 50 seconds, no advanced settings. Purpose is to test the functionality of all 4 proxy nodes that we have defined in the firewall ruleset (different geografic locations).
The test always show "bad" status - and I have no idea why. Any clues on that or to figure out what causes the status to be "bad"?
Thanks
Joerg

You may use "Tune up Reply value" option with the following macrovariables to check HTTP code/header returned by the server:
%HttpCode%
%HttpHeader%
Also, you should check "Timeout" and "Set Bad status when total download time is longer then" options for HTTP test.

Thanks for the answer. "Set Bad Status when ..." ist unchecked and "Timeout" is set to a reasonable high value. Using the same test with "Proxy" set to "none" does work. I'm not sure where to put in and test the advised macrovariables in order to check header and code returned by the server, can you please describe this in a detailed manner? does one configure this in the adavanced settings of the test?
Kind regards

"Tune up Reply value" option is located in bottom of Test properties dialog of each test.
If it is hidden, click on [+] icon above "Help" button.
Please check for details at:

Also, you may specify macrovariables in Action profile, assigned to the test.
E.g. You may specify macrovariable in e-mail template, used by Send e-mail (SMTP) action. E-mail profiles can be managed using menu Profiles -> Mail profiles...

Please check the manual or visit our web site for more information at:

found everything as described. inserted those mentioned variables. Result: httpcode does show "0" and http header is not filled. Strange. Do I omit the proxy in the test (i.e. =none) everything is working, both variables have reasonable content. Using the defined proxy in the internet explorer with the same ip and port does work also (on the same workstation) - which does proof that the configured options are correct.

Can we use the same proxy for testing?
Could you send proxy/test details to support@ks-soft.net?

Alex
