Text String Monitor

Post by mikch »

Hello,

I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but I am having trouble finding the answer to my question. I have a text log file that I want to monitor for several different words, "Error", "Terminate", "Hung", etc. I want to fire an event each time one of these words appear in my log but I'm not sure which test to use or how to configure the test. I would appreciate any help given.

Thanks in advance!

You need "Text log" test method.
It will check only new records, added to log.
Just add Text log test, select Look for Expression option and provide expression like the following:
"Error" or "Terminate" or "Hung"

Please check the manual or visit our web site for more information at:

Thanks for the reply, should I include the quotes "Error" or "Terminate" or "Hung" around the words I watching?

Thanks again!

Yes. When using Expression, each word should be quoted, like in example above.
