Test periodically failing on multiple agents

Post by Gavin »

I'm having an issue with the process test across multiple agents. I have a simple test setup to ensure explorer is running as a task. The tests are setup:

Folder specific agent (to RMA on another server)
Alert when less than 1
Test method Process

This seems to happen over multiple agents, and only when the server is logged out. If I log the server in the test passes fine.

RMA is running as system server under system context on the remote server. Any ideas?

1) What exactly means "failing"? What is test status? Test Reply value?
2) "server is logged out" means user logged out?
3) "RMA is running as system server" means RMA is running as service?
4) "under system context on the remote server" means you are using local system account for RMA service? This is Ok if RMA checks local system only. If RMA checks some other systems, you should use admin account.
5) HostMonitor version? RMA version? Active RMA or Passive RMA?
6) Windows? Service Pack?

1) Test is turning red with status of "Bad" and reply of "0"
2) Yes console session is logged out, sitting at CTRL ALT DEL
3) RMA Is running as service under the system context
4) Yes - RMA is only checking the machine it is installed on
5) Hostmonitor 9.40 - RMA 4.54
6) I can replicate this behaviour on Server 2008 SP2, Server 2008 R2 and Server 2003 all service packs. Infact it does it on every server I have.

Looks like everything is fine. HostMonitor gets answer from agent, tells you number of running "explorer.exe" processes

Sorry this is my fault I shouldn't be testing for explorer.exe, I was meant to be testing for svchost.

Sorry Alex!
