Post by RogerSpraggon »

I had host monitor running succcesssfuly on a Windows XP machine but now I am trying to move it to a Windows 2008 R2 server.
I can comminicate with the modem (Multitech MTCBA-G-f1-EU) using terraterm but when I try to send SMS from hostminitor a get the following:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sending...
Com port open .. Ok
GSM modem initialization .. Ok
Error: Cannot send message to 0424774633. GSM modem error. ERROR was returned on AT command: AT+CMGS=133>0001000A81404277643300F18ACDF27C1E3E974166F9BB0D42BEE7F4E6DB9DA6BFE50A6A794E07814020900E044DBBCF3A10FA5DC68FD13145B34C47BFC93A103CED3E8350F474BBFCAED3412D900C068381DAF394624A0FD3EB7310480742BEE774507A0E0AB3D3F6B28218A69741201048078AE15E30D94B068BCD40311D2DA6ABCD40D026
What Baud rate do you use (menu Options -> "SMS GSM")?
Could you try to use lower Boaud rate ?
Also, you may try to specify destination phone number using international format (e.g. +35342XXXXXXX )
Baud Rate is 115200 which the mulittech seems to need (teraterm will not work with anything eslse); I changed down to slower speeds but no difference.
I also tried with international format and no difference.
Com port opens ok but now getting:
Error: Cannor send message to +61424XXXXXX. GSM modem error. No reply on AT command: ATE1
May be you should try to use fixed Baud rate for modem?
Using Hyper terminal or any other sofware that can send commands to COM port, sent two AT commands:
AT+IPR=38400
AT&W
First command will set fixed Baud rate 38400 for modem, second will save this parameter.
HostMonitor Baud rate should also be set to 38400.
You may also try several others Boud rates for modem & HostMonitor (19200, 9600).
Tried reducing vbaud rate to 38400 and got the follwing unsecusssfel test:
Sending...
Com port open .. Ok
GSM modem initialization .. Ok
Error: Cannot send message to +614XXXXXXXXX. GSM modem error. ERROR was returned on AT command: AT+CMGS=24>0001000B911624744736F300F10CD4F29C0E6A97E7F3F0B90C
Com port close .. Ok
GSM modem deinitialization .. Ok
Everything used to work at 115200 on XP machine
Hard to say what is wrong, modems never offer nice diagnostics :(
Could you please try test program www.ks-soft.net/download/test/GSMCenter.zip?
Please, setup "SMS Log file" and "GSM-AT Logfile" files, try to send SMS and send logs to support@ks-soft.net.
Regards
Alex
You may try to use Siemens TC35 with PDU mode.
Also, you may try some other modem types.
Please check if Service Center is specified in International format and PIN code is specified correctly.
Problem is solved; our accounts department happened to disconnect the mobile service on the SIM card I was using at the same time that I was swapping systems. Both old and new systems are working with active SIM.
Glad to hear that :)
I'm sorry that we couldn't provide much help.
In most cases GSM devices do not provide useful diagnostic information.
