Folder variables in tests?

Post by mrw »

Hi,
Is it possible to somehow set certain variables for each folder to be used in tests?
I have one folder for each device. That means that all tests I put in that folders share lots of common settings like, ipadress, servername, credentials, Alert profile, master test, "test by" and so on.

So I would like to set those values on a folder so when I copy a test from another folder it could automatically update those setting so I don´t have to edit them all manually everytime.

Is this possible to achieve somehow?

You cannot set all properties using variables, just some (like hostname)

Thanks!

I tried to add variables for ipaddress and unc_ip and those worked fine with CPU Usage tests and all others that needs ipaddress. Great!
Also the option to select a Folder specific RMA works for this.

What I miss though is to be able to set a Master test for the specified folder.
And also to be able to select SNMP profile with a folder variable or similar would be nice. I guess there a lot of other stuff that would benefit from using folder variables or folder specific settings.

Any chance of adding that to the next release?

Sorry, I don't think this can be done in the next release.

Thank you.
Yes, we can implement several new options (like SNMP Profile per-folder basis) in future versions.
